Όταν μπήκε στη λίστα μου το Μαρόκο κάποια χρόνια πριν, ήξερα από τότε πως δεν θέλω να μείνω σε ξενοδοχείο αλλά σε riad. Το riad είναι παραδοσιακή μαροκινή κατοικία χτισμένη γύρω από μια κεντρική αυλή ή κήπο. Συνήθως έχει λίγα δωμάτια, κάτι που κάνει την εμπειρία του να μένεις σε ένα από αυτά πιο προσωπική.

A few years ago Morocco entered my bucket list and I already knew that when I visit I don’t want to stay at a hotel but at a riad. The riad is a traditional moroccan house built round a central courtyard or garden. Usually it has a few rooms available making the experience more intimate and personal.

Μετά από πολλέεες ώρες αναζήτησης για riad στο Μαρακές (γιατί δεν ήξερα πραγματικά ποιό να πρωτοδιαλέξω για να μείνουμε) έπεσε το μάτι μου σ’ενα μικρό διαμαντάκι, το Riad Anjar!!!  

After many many many hours of researching for riad in Marrakech (’cause the struggle to find one that I don’t like was real!!), my eye caught a little gem, Riad Anjar!!  

 

Η μικρή αυτή πόρτα άνοιξε και μας υποδέχτηκαν με ένα μεγάλο χαμόγελο και τί άλλο, τσάι μέντας!!! Και πολλές χρήσιμες συμβουλές για την περιοχή και τα αξιοθέατα! Μπήκαμε σε μια αυλίτσα με πισίνα και ήδη μακριά από την βαβούρα των αγορών και της μεδίνας.

A little door opened and we were welcomed by the staff with a big smile and what else, mint tea!!! And many useful tips about the area and the attractions! We entered a courtyard with a pool and we were already away from the noise of the souks and the medina.

 

 

Τοποθεσία: Το Riad Anjar βρίσκεται στην ιστορική περιοχή Mouassine που αποτελεί το γεωγραφικό κέντρο της μεδίνας. Είναι πολύ κοντά στην μια είσοδο της μεδίνα, την Bab Laksour και θα το βρεις εύκολα λίγα μέτρα αφότου μπεις στην οδό Derb Snan κάτω από μια μικρή αψίδα. Αν θέλεις να πας στην κεντρική πλατεία Djemaa El Fna, θα περπατήσεις το πολύ 8 λεπτά ενώ για την γνωστή πλατεία Place des Epices γύρω στα 6 λεπτά. Θα έλεγα ότι είναι σε πολύ καλό σημείο για να περπατήσεις και να εξερευνήσεις την πόλη. 

Location: Riad Anjar is located in the historic district of Mouassine which is the geographical centre of the medina. You can easily find it near one of the entrances of the medina, Bab Laksour, under a small arc on the right after walking a few meters of the street. It’s a 8-minute tops walk to the central square Djemaa El Fna and 6 minutes to the other famous square, Place des Epices. I can say that the riad was for us an ideal spot to start exploring the city.

 

 

Δωμάτια: Το riad έχει 7 δωμάτια διακοσμημένα σε συνδυασμό μοντέρνου και παραδοσιακού μαροκινού στυλ. Το κάθε δωμάτιο μάλιστα έχει το δικό του ιδιαίτερο στυλ. Όπως μας είπε η Emanuela, η ιταλίδα ιδιοκτήτρια, το riad ήταν ένα παλιό αρχοντικό και έγινε κατάλυμα πριν από 5 χρόνια που το ανέλαβε. 

Εμείς μείναμε στο standard δωμάτιο και μας άρεσε πάρα πολύ. Προς έκπληξή μας είχε ένα μικρό χωλ όλο δικό μας. Το δωμάτιο μας ήταν σχετικά μεγάλο, διακοσμημένο σε ζεστούς τόνους του μπεζ και του καφέ και όμορφα φωτισμένο με ένα μεγάλο άνετο κρεβάτι και πολλά πολλά μαξιλάρια!!! Εξαιρετικό σου λέω!! Ειδικά όταν γυρνάς εξουθενωμένος από τις πολύωρες βόλτες στο Μαρακές!! Κι αν θέλαμε να διαβάσουμε και κάτι, είχε και βιβλία, κυρίως στα ιταλικά.

Rooms: Riad Anjar offers 7 rooms decorated in a combination of modern and traditional moroccan style. Every room has its own unique decoration. As Emanuela, the italian owner told us, the riad was an old mansion that was transformed into a riad five years ago when she took over.

We stayed at the standard room and we really loved it. We were surprised to have our own anteroom. The room was not so large, well-lighted and decorated in warm beige and brown tones and with a big comfy bed and lovely cushings. So so lovely!! Especially when you return after a full day exploring Marrakech!! And it also had some books, mostly written in italian.

 

 

Το μπάνιο είχε μια μεγάλη ντουζιέρα, έναν ιδιαίτερης ομορφιάς καθρέφτη, πιστολάκι μαλλιών και είδη περιποίησης (εννοείται είχε μαροκινό αργανέλαιο αλλά και μαύρο σαπούνι).

The bathroom had a big shower, a really unique miror, hair dryer and toiletries (of course it had moroccan argan oil and black soap). 

 

 

Πρωινό: Το πρωινό σερβίρεται στην ταράτσα και όταν βρέχει ή έχει άσχημο καιρό σε έναν κομψά διαμορφωμένο χώρο. Και έχει καφέ, τσάι μέντας, βούτυρο, μαρμελάδες, φρούτα, ψωμάκια, μαροκινές κρέπες, κρουασανάκια, γιαούρτι!! Ό,τι χρειάζεσαι για να ξεκινήσεις την ημέρα σου! Και επειδή είχα γενέθλια την επόμενη μέρα (και δεν θα ήμουν εκεί) μου έφεραν να σβήσω κεράκι πάνω σε πάστα!

Breakfast: Breakfast is served on the terrace and when it’s raining or the weather is bad in an elegant space there. And it consists of coffee, mint tea, butter, delicious jams, fruits, bread, moroccan crepes, croissants and yoghurt!! Everything you need to start your day!! And they brought me a candle to blow out on a cake ’cause I had my birthday the next day (and I wouldn’t be there)!! Lovely, right??

 

 

Είπαμε να φάμε και ένα βράδυ στο Riad Anjar και όλα ήταν υπέροχα. Η ατμόσφαιρα, το φαγητό και το προσωπικό που ήταν δίπλα μας για ό,τι χρειαζόμασταν!! 

We also dined at Riad Anjar and everything was so nice!! The atmosphere, the food and the staff that was ready to satisfy any desire we had! 

Δοκιμάσαμε αυθεντικές μαροκινές γεύσεις (εννοείται πως η μαγείρισσα είναι ντόπια) και ήταν όλα πεντανόστιμα,  τα ορεκτικά, το κυρίως (tajine με κεφτεδάκια και αυγό) και το επιδόρπιο (αγγούρι με λεμόνι-ναι σερβίρεται ως γλυκό!!

We tasted authentic moroccan dishes (the cook is a local woman!!) and they were all quite delicious: the appetizers, the main dish (tajine with meatballs and eggs) and the dessert (cucumber with lemon-Oh yes in Morocco it’s a dessert!!)

 

 

Το riad έχει και φανταστική δεύτερη ταράτσα με θέα στην πόλη!! Κρίμα που δεν είχε πολύ καλό καιρό για να κάτσουμε και να απολαύσουμε το τσάι μας!! 

The riad has a second terrace with fantastic views to the city!!! I wish the weather was not so bad…so we could sit and enjoy some mint tea!! 

 

 

Διαθέτει και αίθουσα σπα και χαμάμ!!! 

The riad also offers spa and hammam services!!

 

 

Πραγματικά νιώσαμε σαν στο σπίτι μας σε ξένο τόπο, όπως είναι και το μότο του Riad Anjar. Σας το προτείνω ανεπιφύλαχτα όταν πάτε στο Μαρακές!!! Το διακρίνει η φιλοξενία, η κομψότητα και φαίνεται πως έχει φτιαχτεί με αγάπη και σεβασμό προς τους επισκέπτες!!

We really felt like we were at home in a foreign land as the moto of Riad Anjar says. I totally recommend you this riad when you visit Marrakech!! You can distinguish it from many others because of its hospitality and its elegance and you can really see that it has been made with love and respect to the visitors!!
