Ξέρεις ότι έχω κάτι με τις πόρτες, τα παράθυρα και τα μπαλκόνια! Αν με ακολουθείς και στο Instagram το έχεις καταλάβει καλά, αφού ανεβάζω πολλές φωτογραφίες με αυτά!! Τί να κάνω, τα αγαπώ!!! Σε κάθε ευκαιρία τα φωτογραφίζω είτε στην πόλη μου είτε στα ταξίδια μου.

You know I have a thing for doors, windows and balconies!! If you follow me on Instagram, you already know it….haha….you’ll find many photos of them!! What can I do, I love them!! I take photos of them at any opportunity given either in my city either when I travel.

Και στην Μάλτα, νομίζω είναι ένας από τους λόγους να ξαναγυρίσω! Τα χάζευα μαγεμένη για αρκετά λεπτά και δεν ήξερα ποιό να πρωτοφωτογραφίσω!

And in Malta, I think they are one of the reasons I would go back. I was looking at them enchanted for a few minutes and I didn’t know which one to photograph first!

Οι πόρτες που θα δεις παρακάτω έχουν φωτογραφηθεί στην πρωτεύουσα Valletta, στις πόλεις Mdina και Rabat και σε μία κυρίως από τις Τρείς πόλεις: την Vittoriosa.

The doors photographed you’ll see below are mostly from the capital city Valletta, the cities Mdina and Rabat and Vittoriosa, one of the Three Cities.

Όσο για τα μπαλκόνια;; Τα ”gallarijas”!! Ήταν τα πιο ιδιαίτερα που έχω δει!! Φτιαγμένα από ξύλο κυρίως, κλειστά, πολύχρωμα, παραδοσιακά μπαλκονάκια. Υπάρχουν πολλές ιστορίες για την καταγωγή τους, άλλοι λένε ότι είναι ισπανική, άλλοι αραβική, άλλοι τούρκική. Λέγεται πως τα δύο πρώτα μπαλκόνια στη Μάλτα, κατασκευάστηκαν το έτος 1679 στο Παλάτι του Μεγάλου Μαγίστρου, που σήμερα αποτελεί την έδρα του προέδρου της χώρας. Μου έκανε πολύ καλή εντύπωση το γεγονός ότι η μαλτέζικη κυβέρνηση έχει ξεκινήσει ένα πρόγραμμα αστικής αναγέννησης των μπαλκονιών και στηρίζει οικονομικά τους ιδιοκτήτες στην αποκατάστασή τους. Για να μην χαθεί αυτό το παραδοσιακό στοιχείο στο νησί.

And the balconies?? The ”gallarijas”!! The most special I’ve ever seen! Made mostly by wood, enclosed, colourful and traditional! There are so many stories about their origin, some people say it is spanish, some say arabic and others turkish. It is said that the two first balconies in Malta were made in 1679 for the Grandmaster’s Palace, that today is the office of the President of the Republic of Malta. I did find that the maltese government has started an urban regeneration program and supports financially people who want to restore the balconies in order to preserve this traditional aspect in the island.
